Note: Frédéric Belser was born in Geneva and from 1963 had a long and significant association with the great Swiss modernist Max Bill (1908-1994) who had trained at the Bauhaus. As well as being a medical doctor, Belser devoted much of his life to painting with colour and geometry being his obsession. Mondrian's 1955 exhibition in Zurich had a lasting impact on his work.
