Note: William Lyons Wilson began as a landscape painter influenced by Cotman, Constable and Cezanne. By the 1940s he was under the spell of Miro and the surrealist movement in Europe. Writing about the influence of Miro he said, 'All truth is there' - and he had two solo exhibitions of his surrealist paintings at the Redfern Gallery in London during the 1940s.
