Note: Fiore de Henriquez came to London in 1949 and was introduced to Lucian Freud and Francis Bacon by Rodrigo Moynihan.
In 1952, Lucian Freud was 29 and was a rising star in the London art scene, known for his portraits and his connection to the figurative art movement. He was also in a period of significant personal change, including eloping to Paris with Lady Caroline Blackwood and later painting her. Freud also painted his famous portrait of John Minton in 1952.
