Note: Although Dorothy Hepworth and her partner Patricia Preece lived in Paris between 1922 and 1926, they returned to England each summer to holiday in Cornwall. This painting shows some of the formal linear qualities that Hepworth picked up whilst studying at André Lhote’s academy in Paris. The subject is Trevaunance Cove, St Agnes where they stayed throughout the summer of 1925.
