Provenance

The Artist's Estate

Note: Chubac was born in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1925 and received a Diploma in Decorative Arts in 1945 from the Geneva School of Decorative Arts. He later received a Degree in Fine Arts and traveled to Paris and to Algeria where he painted figuratively. He then visited Barcelona, and returning to Paris he saw an exposition of abstract art. After visiting and living in all parts of Egypt, he had an exhibit in Athens.

By 1951 he was again in Paris, where his work showed a primary influence by Nicholas de Stael. Chubac moved to the south of France, where he still lives today, in Aspremont near Nice. Although he has exhibited throughout Europe and in New York City, he has had many more shows along the Cote d’Azur.

He has exhibited with Arden Quin and other MADI artists, and his prints appeared in a folio with MADI and similar artists.
