Note: This is important early work by the artist was painted just before the First World War when Grillon was in touch with Albert Marquet and Henri Matisse. The rich, exotic colouring and thickly applied paint reflects the influence of these two artists and demonstrates Grillon's allegiance to the modern Paris School.
