Note: Painted when the artist was studying at Wimbledon School of Art under Gerald Cooper. Writing about Wealthy’s paintings from the 1950s Mike Bradshaw noted - ‘There are also a few narrative paintings from this time, where one can see the influence of Edward Burra and Stanley Spencer. These wonderful, dynamic uses of the figure dominate the compositions, with muted colour and pattern like qualities, which was very much of its time.’
