Provenance

Acquired directly from the artist, Birch & Conran, London.
Note: An extremely rare early Surrealist biomorphic composition by Eileen Agar. It is a good example of her experience with Foltýn and her interest in Arp but also indebted to the freehand drawing classes that she, Gertrude Hermes and Henry Moore received from Leon Underwood in the 1920's.

Literature

Directly relates to 'Surrealist Composition: Face',1931.Fig 53,Pg.77 Eileen Agar, Angel of Anarchy, Whitechapel Gallery, London,2021.
